ZOOFanatika 2019
 6th year of Slavic meeting of zoo-materials collectors and zoo-fans

WHEN AND WHERE
12th - 14 th April 2019 in Bratislava Zoological Garden (www.zoobratislava.sk). Arrival is possible already 11th April 2019 (also accommodation is possible since 11th April).
 

ARRIVAL BY CAR
to parking in fron of Lecture Hall (no. 1 in the map), don't park in main parking at entrance of the zoo! Parking during the ZOOFanatika on the same place.
Way to the parking: in Bratislava, right after leaving the tunnel, turn right - like to the zoo but don't turn to the entrance - continue straight on the street Staré Grunty. After 700 m, before the polyclinic, turn right (still Staré Grunty street see photo A). After another 650 m, behind the left bend, turn left behind the house to a small street called Konvalinková (see photo B). At the turn-off there is a traffic sign with the inscription "Mestská polícia kynológia Bratislava" (see photo C). From here about 100 m straight - to the "no entry" and gates with the inscription Mestská polícia (Municipal police) (see photo D). At the end of the fenced area on the right is the Lecture Hall and a parking lot (see photo E) - GPS: 48°9'47.045"N, 17°3'59.309"E.

 

ARRIVAL BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you have not your own car, it is best to agree with some of the other participants who will come by car (from Prague for example) - it can be done for example through Facebook of ZOOfanatika.
Lines to the zoo, if you will come by public transport:
Train: from central station (Hlavná stanica) by bus no. 32 - 8 stops, 11 minutes (about 3 times per hour on morning weekdays and twice in weekends), price € 0,70
Bus: from main bus station (Autobusová stanica) no direct line goes to the zoo. You have to go by buses no. 70 and 37 with change on stop "Most SNP" (you have to change also platform) - 3 + 3 stops, 5 + 5 minutes, price € 0,90. The second possibility is buses no. 21 and 30 with change in stop of "Patrónka" (again you have to change also platform) - 4 + 2 stops, 12 + 2 minutes, price € 0,90.
Plane: from M. R. Štefánik Airport (Letisko M. R. Štefánika), known also as Ivanka, no direct line goes to the zoo. You have to go by bus no. 61 to stop "Hlavná stanica" (Central Railway station), there change bus platform and go by bus no. 32 to the zoo - it is 17 + 8 stops, 25 + 11 minutes, price € 1,20.
At the last turn to the Lecture Hall there is Konvalinková bus stop (line 139), but the journey here is complicated - with several changes. See. timetable and routes of Bratislava city transport: hwww.imhd.sk/ba
From the zoo entrance (no. 3 on the map), it is about 30 minutes of walk by streets to the Lecture Hall (no. 1 on the map) or about 20 minutes through the zoo (along the Apes House and Rhinos).
 

ENTRY TO THE ZOO AND REGISTRATION
First entry and registration: in the Lecture Hall (no. 1 in the map) - go directly to the Lecture Hall (not to the Zoo entrance) - by the street around the zoo. Pedestrians can go to the Lecture Hall through the main entrance of the zoo (no. 3 on the map) - they will tell name at the box office and will be admitted. Then they will continue around the Apes House to Rhinos and to the pass between the zoo and the Lecture Hall (no. 6 on the map - you will see ZooFanatika sign here).
The other entry to / from zoo: by the pass at the Lecture Hall (no. 6 in the map) or through main Zoo entrance - with identification tag (no. 3 in the map)
 

PRICE
Charge for adult is € 17, for child (under 15 years) € 14 and includes one join dinner (barbecue), beer, one toast drink (children and driver non-alcoholic), basic refreshment during all the program (coffee, tea, bottled water, biscuit, sticks, chips etc.) and overhead and other costs (identification tags, printing, etc.). Moreover there have be mentioned also free admission to the zoo in all three (alternativelly four) days, a substantial discount on meals and other extra things. Participants of last year will get a postcards with joint photo.
The table for collector's swap is for extra charge € 3,50. The other possibility is only half of the table for € 2.
Payment - by bank transfer in CZK (see info in the application), foreigners cash in the zoo (in €).
 

REGISTERING
You can register and order all else (i.e. accommodation, meals and table for swapping) by one PDF form. Only to fill out and send it to the e-mail (contact in the form) suffices. Save filled out application form under your name in the shape family_firstname.pdf (details in the application form). One application is required for each participant. Dead line for the registering is 4th April 2019!!!
Download the PDF application form if you didn't get it by e-mail (right click on the link and save as...) - don't fill out the application just in the internet browser.

ACCOMMODATION
there are arranged even 4 possibilities of accommodation for those interested (and the accommodation is available since Thursday 11th April 2019):

1) Drunk Tank (Záchytka) just in front of the Lecture Hall (no. 2 in the map, see photo F and G) - it is really Drunk Tank!!! That was built but never was under operation. For the time being, it serves as "guest house" for occasional actions of the zoo and Municipal police, in the future, it should be turned to zoo quarantine. It is a unique opportunity to sleep in barred cells of the Drunk Tank for a fraction of the price!!! Single to double bed cells, toilet, shower and about 50 m to the Lecture hall, necessary own sleeping bag (or so on)!!! Price € 6 per person per night. Capacity 12 people (3 cells, each for 4 persons). Parking between the Lecture hall and the Drunk Tank.

2) Zoo club (+ Drunk Tank on sleeping pad) just in the zoo (no. 9 in the map) - hall of the Zoo club, WC and washbasin available, but not shower. Necessary own sleeping pad and sleeping bag (or so on). For free - students have priority!!! Capacity 8 persons in Zoo klub + 4 persons in the Drunk Tank. Parking in front of Lecture Hall.

3) Tents next to the Lecture hall (no. 5 in the map) - whoever is interested can sleep in a tent on the grass next to the lecture hall (alternativelly in a caravan or car) - necessary own equipment (tent, sleeping bag etc.), toilet and washbasin is in the building of the Lecture hall. For free. Parking at the lecture hall.

4) Kamenný Mlyn Vajarský - accommodation near Plavecký Štvrtok in double and triple rooms with bathroom, TV, Wi-Fi. Kamenný Mlyn Vajarský lies at main road from Czech republic to Bratislava a bit behind Plavecký Štvrtok on the right (GPS: 48°21'45.327"N, 17°1'1.329"E). Price € 17,50 per person per night in double room or € 15 per person and night in triple room. Room must be empty on Sunday until 10.00. Capacity 60 people (15 double rooms and 12 triple rooms). For accommodation in a triple room, it is necessary to arrange it with some one and register all at one time!!! The accommodation order is binding - can not be canceled!!! www.kamennymlyn.sk
The journey from Kamenny Mlyn to the zoo is very easy, it takes about 24 minutes or 16 minutes by highway (it goes only through the marginal part of Bratislava, so there are no traffic jams). Anyone arriving by public transport should arrange a ride with someone who will be by car. One car (with driver) of the zoological garden will be disposal, but it is for the transport only of a very limited number of people. A bus is coming just from the hotel to Bratislava, but it is a bit complicated - the bus (Slovak lines) stops right in front of the hotel and goes to Bratislava Patrónka station (about 40 minutes for about € 2,10), from here by city bus line 30, 37 or 92 (2 stops, 2 minutes for € 0,70). Everybody can to individually arrange another accommodation, however prices near the zoo are very high - the cheapest (and vacant) is perhaps Hotel Družba (from € 25 - 30 per person per night).

How to order the accommodation: through the application form for ZOOfanatika (see above). We will order the accommodation continuously and namely, so specify (in the application form) with whom you want to stay in one room. Roommates, order at one time - we will order rooms only after they have been filled (i.e. when everybody from one room send me the application)!!!
How to accommodate: In the Kamenny Mlyn - individually (ideally already on the route to the zoo - you will go almost around), they will have a name list of the guests. In other cases (Drunk Tank, Zoo Club, Tents), come first to the Lecture Hall for keys, instructions, or so on.
 

MEALS
Join dinner and toast at Friday: included in the price (of ZOOFanatika) - barbecue and beer in front of lecture Hall (in fenced zoo area). Toast with Champagne (for children and drivers non-alcoholic).

Breakfasts: self made breakfasts from bought  foodstuffs (similarly as it was in Jihlava). Price € 2,50.

Lunches and dinner: price of € 5,50 for lunch and also dinner (both including soup) is arranged. The price included the dinner box and transport to the zoo.
Lunches and dinner will be prepared specially for us in the Kamenný Mlyn Vajarský and brought in the dining boxes to the Lecture Hall - always the exact number - it will not be possible to order the food on the place!!! It is possible to provide gluten-free diet (the requirement must be notified by e-mail when sending the application). Own cutlery and spoon with you!!! See the menu.

This time there will not be vouchers, but a name list.
How to order the meal: through the application form for ZOOfanatika (it will be not possible on the place!!!)
Other refreshment: biscuits, sticks, chips etc. will be available non-stop for free as well as also coffee, tea and soft drinks.
 

SPECIAL POSSIBILITY
in Sunday, there is possibility (on back way to Czech rep.) for interested persons to make organized visit of Faunapark Sedlec - newly licensed private zoo near Mikulov (it was opened 19th September 2018) with rather interested animals - e.g. 4 crane species, 10 primates species, antelopes, dingos, bobcats, camels etc. Its owner, MUDr. Igor Šimek will welcome (and may be also guide) us. Departure from Bratislava at 13.⁰⁰ (by own cars), the journey on unpaid routes (via Austria) takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes (after that the way from Sedlec to Brno and D1 highway is about 50 km, that means ca. 35 minutes). On the site all will wait to the last people - tour will be organized (in the group). GPS: 48°46'35.581"N, 16°41'34.788"E. Who will not be by own car, that can agree with some of the other participants - through Facebook of ZOOfanatika or on the spot.
 

SCHEDULE
the program will be again interesting, none of the traditional points missing - there is prepared 10 lectures, collector's exchange, presentation of the zoo and the clearance sale of materials, auction, commented tour of the zoo (with part of the backstage), lecture and talk with an important person of zoology, who will be Mgr. Erich Kočner - director of Košice Zoo and president of UCSZOO. Moreover in Sunday, there is already mentioned special possibility of visit of Faunapark Sedlec. beginning: Friday 12th April 2019, arrival between 9.⁰⁰ and 10.⁰⁰, alternativelly already 11th April 2019 (during the day)
end: Sunday 14th April 2019, departure 13.⁰⁰ from Bratislava (alternatively ca. 16.¹⁰ from Sedlec)
 

AUCTION
Proceeds from the auction will be used for building of new large bear enclosure in Bratislava Zoo.
The auction will be held in Czech crowns, but payment will be possible in both currencies - in CZK and also in € (conversion will be shown on screen).
In the auction there were traditionally items donated by the participants, but traditional is also that the highlight of the auction is devoted by the zoo - usually several objects or items, it will not be different also in Bratislava - Bratislava Zoo donates to the auction:
