ZOOFanatika 2021
 8th year of Slavic meeting of zoo-materials collectors and zoo-fans

WHEN AND WHERE
In substitute date from 9th to 11th July 2021 in Liberec Zoological Garden (www.zooliberec.cz).
 

ARRIVAL BY CAR
short-term parking is possible in the main parking lot at the entrance to the zoo (no. 3 on the map), but there are very few parking spaces (and high season will be), so we ask you for check in in the hostel immediately when you arrive in Liberec and leave the car on parking at the hostel. As well we ask also the participants of the collector's exchange to agree with someone on the transport of their materials - for staying as few of our cars as possible in the parking lot.
 

ARRIVAL BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you have not your own car, it is best to agree with some of the other participants who will come by car (from Prague for example) - it can be done for example through Facebook of ZOOfanatika.
If you will come by public transport, rather the bus is more advantageous than train (see timetables on IDOS).
Train: express trains go from Prague Central Station (Hlavní nádraží) with a transfer in Turnov. The journey takes about 2.5 hours (price around 220 CZK). Trains from the northwest of the republic go via Ústí nad Labem or Česká Lípa and from other places via Turnov. There is a direct connection by passenger train to Germany - Bautzen, Bischofswerda or Dresden (or with a transfer in Zittau) - about 2 hours journey. And also a passenger train to Poland - Szklarska Poreba, (ca. 1 hour and 45 minutes).
It is about 4 km from the train station to the zoo - tram no. 2 and 3 (9 stops to the final, about 13 minutes, runs about 6 times per hour)
Bus: there are many direct buses from Prague Černý most. The journey takes 1 - 1.5 hours and the price is around 110 CZK. Direct buses conection is also with Hradec Králové, Turnov, Brno, Olomouc..., but also witho Germany (Berlin, Nüremberg...) and Poland (Zgorzelec, Warsaw, Gdańsk ...), but it is necessary to find out current information - many connections were temporarily cut off due to a pandemic.
From the bus station it is about 4 km to the zoo. Tram connection from the neighbouring Central train station (see above).

ENTRY TO THE ZOO AND REGISTRATION
First entry to the zoo: first to Culture centre Lidové sady (2), only then with a name-tag to the zoo.
Registration: in the small hall of Culture centre Lidové sady (2)
The other entry to / from zoo: by main entrance (1)

Note: The Lidové sady Cultural Center belongs to the zoo, but the entrance is separated from the entrance to the zoo
 

PRICE
Charge for adult is 590 CZK, for child (under 15 years) 530 CZK and includes one join dinner, one toast drink (children and driver non-alcoholic), basic refreshment during all the program (coffee, tea, bottled water, biscuit, sticks, chips etc.) and overhead and other costs (identification tags, printing, etc.). Moreover there have be mentioned also free admission to the zoo in all three days. Participants of last year will get a postcards with joint photo.
The table for collector's swap is for extra charge 90 CZK. The other possibility is only half of the table for 50 CZK.
 

ACCOMMODATION
accommodation is arranged at the Dormitories of TUL (Technical University of Liberec) on the street 17. listopadu 584 (50°46'12.414"N, 15°5'22.868"E) - in double rooms, but it is possible to add a third bed on request. 2 - 3 rooms form one so-called cell, while each cell has its own bathroom, toilet and kitchen. Free Wi-Fi is available. Accommodation is possible already from Thursday (or even earlier and alternatively also longer than to Sunday).

How to get from the zoo to the hostel and vice versa:
• on foot: from the zoo entrance to the dormitories it is about 1.3 km, i.e. about 10 - 15 minutes
• by car: about 1.5 - 1.9 km / 3 - 6 minutes (half of the way is one-way, so a slightly different route in both directions - see. map below)
• by public transport: the route is very long, because you have to go to the city center due to the transfer (tram no. 2 or 3 to Šaldovo náměstí and from there by bus no. 15 or 29 to the University College stop (about 400 m from the Dormitory) - a total of 25 minutes + time to change.

Accommodation price (including city tax):
314 CZK per person and night, or 394 CZK in the case of one person in the room.

How to order the accommodation:
through the application form for ZOOfanatika (see above). We will order the accommodation continuously and namely (always the whole room at once). If you want to stay with someone, write his / her name in the application.

How to accommodate:
You will report your name at the reception of the TUL Dormitories and after that you receive room keys. Accommodation check in is standard from 2 PM, but we have agreed the possibility to check in already from the morning (even before registration at ZF), so write the approximate time of arrival to the hostel in the application (in order to your room is ready in time).

Note:
pandemic measures which will be up-to-date at the given moment (masks, tests or vaccinations, etc.) apply to the accommodation!!!
 

MEALS
All meals will be provided by the Formanka zoo restaurant and will take place in the Small Hall of the Lidové sady Cultural Center (where the whole ZooFanatika will run) (2)
Join dinner and toast at Friday: included in the price (of ZOOFanatika)
Breakfasts: 75 CZK
Lunches and dinner: 140 CZK (lunch incl. soup)

Meals will be served for the meal vouchers that everyone receives at registration. It will not be possible to choose from the menu.

Other refreshment:
biscuits, sticks, chips etc. will be available non-stop for free as well as also coffee, tea and soft drinks.
In addition to this refreshments also the service from the restaurant will be working - always during the break, the staff will come to the hall and make an order for all those interested at once (same way as in Dvůr Králové for example). You can order anything, but it will be mainly draught beer, wine or so on.
 

REGISTERING
You can register and order all else (i.e. accommodation, meals and table for swapping) by one PDF form. Only to fill out and send it to the e-mail (contact in the form) suffices. Save filled out application form under your name in the shape family_firstname.pdf (details in the application form). One application is required for each participant. Dead line for the registering is 4th July 2021!!!

SPECIAL POSSIBILITY
will be (or will be not) specified - we are trying to prepare something, but the situation is still complicated and so the result is uncertain.
 

SCHEDULE
the program will be again interesting, none of the traditional points missing - there is prepared 10 lectures, collector's exchange, presentation of the zoo and the clearance sale of materials, auction, commented tour of the zoo (including part of backstage), lecture and talk with an important person of Czech zoology (MVDr. Jiří Dousek Ph.D. - a leading expert in animal welfare, a long-term employee of State Veterinary Administration and vice-chairman of Central Commission for Animal Protection). May be some special possibility in Sunday (see above).

end: Sunday 11th July 2021, departure 2.00 PM from Liberec
 

COLLECTOR'S SWAP:
will take place in the Lidové sady Cultural Center (2), to where it is possible to go by car for unload / load materials.
 

AUCTION
Proceeds from the auction will be used for building of exhibition for kea parrots
The auction will be held in Czech crowns, but payment will be possible and also in € (conversion will be shown on screen).
In the auction there were traditionally items donated by the participants and traditionally also something more valuable in addition - what the zoo give to the auction, e.g. giant plush tiger, old and new materials including historical tickets, "glass leaf of the biodiversity tree" (original zoo fundraising tool, see www.zooliberec.cz/...), experience programs etc.
